World Premiere – Chanel Rouge Allure Extrait de Gloss in Fatale: Review and Swatches

August 9, 2010

Chanel Rouge Allure Extrait de Gloss in Fatale (# 61) is a deep red with a high-gloss texture.  At this link, there is an introductory overview of the Extrait de Gloss line, a new Chanel formulation that is about to be introduced.  The Extrait de Gloss formula sits between a lipstick and a gloss–these are more sheer than Chanel Rouge Allure Laque and more pigmented than Chanel’s Glossimers.

Fatale is one of the deeper shades of the introductory wave of colors, and one of the two red shades.  This color has a faintest touch of blue.  Those who love a dramatic gloss should opt for Fatale–it is the most vampy shade of the Extrait de Gloss line.  Having said that, Fatale has a lightness and sheerness that will be easier to wear than the deeper, comparatively more blue Chanel Rouge Noir in Chanel’s lipstick range.  Although the color is strong,  I firmly believe that this is a color that will look lovely on both blondes and brunettes, and that it is perfect for an evening out, or to wear with a neutral suit to a formal office setting for those who want to take charge. Nothing is more beautiful than confidence, and nothing is more confident than a beautiful, strong lip.

This is a good example of how the texture of the Extrait de Gloss varies from the Rouge Allure Laque.  Here is the Rouge Allure Laque Dragon Fatale (far left) compared with Rouge Allure Extrait de Gloss in Fatale (far right).  In the middle is Chanel Rouge Allure Extrait de Gloss in Excès, a warmer red:

Amy, I have been waiting for these forever! Now here is a big Q for you: in addition to these new extrait de glosses, chanel is coming out at the same time with new rouge allure lipsticks, many in the same colors as the new glosses. so, which should i buy: the lipsticks or the glosses or both?????

Oooooh Susie that is a tough one! I was soooo tempted to get two of the Rouge Allure lipsticks that come out with these–they are so pretty! I’d say reserve enough to get maybe two of each? I definitely want to get at least some of the lipsticks!!

Wow – that color looks absolutely lovely on your daughter. I can’t wait till these show up at the counters. I am ready to embrace a high impact red gloss this coming Fall/Winter especially for date nights with my hubby!

Aw that’s so cute! My hub is scared of Dragon but he was fine with Fatale–it doesn’t stop me from loving Dragon though lol. Reds are gorgeous!!

Liz looks just lovely as usual! Which eye shadow colors is she wearing with Fatale?

    • Amy August 9, 2010 at 11:33 am

Hi Lucy–Liz is not wearing eyeshadow with this look–just liner and mascara. That’s the true natural coloring of her eye area. She is wearing a little bit of highlighter on her browbone (a discontinued MAC Glimmershimmer), but its not really giving her any color in this picture.

Oh, how lovely! It almost looks like a sheer taupe. Her coloring is so versatile!

TY!!!! I’m so excited for these. I can hardly wait for the NPs too. I’m eager to see the other ones reviewed soon – you do your reviews and swatches so elegantly.

Hi Sabrina!! 🙂 This is a good collection–it was so tempting to grab it all but I’m sure it will be in the US soon enough (according to Karla Sugar)! 🙂

thanks, amy; you just gave me an excuse for getting allures and the glosses in like colors. as if i needed an excuse!!!!

Well, you could always mix it up too–like getting the reds in one and pinks in another! I believe there are only a few Rouge Allure lipsticks–not as many as the Extrait de Gloss at any rate. Enjoy the rest of your day! 🙂

Thanks for the swatches Amy. I was so curious about these. Looks like they’re much glossier and thinner compared to the Lacques which l absolutely adore.
