Chanel Rouge Allure Extrait de Gloss features Emoi (#58) ($32), a deep cool raspberry red. Like the others in the Rouge Allure Extrait de Gloss line, the gloss is packaged in a long tube with a modified doe-foot handle that has a shape intended to fit against the lip.

The gloss applies as a deep cool red, although not as deep as the Extrait de Gloss in Fatale.  Emoi leans more to a cool deep pink, compared to the deep vamp blue-red of Fatale:

For those who are interested, here are comparison swatches of the three red shades in Chanel’s Rouge Allure Extrait de Gloss line:

As an aside, Liz and I get into endless discussions about which pictures and lighting show the colors most accurately–what you see on the site are the ones that we’ve both agreed upon.

  1. Thank you for the great swatch and comparison. I have Confidence – I must look into Emoi!

  2. I got both this and Exces last week and it suited me better than Exces. It’s a gorgeous deep pink on me (NC42/Pro Lumiere Sand) whereas Exces pulled very slightly orangey on me. I think I may have to get Fatale and see if that works better. Thanks for your wonderful reviews. It’s because of them that I am able to make decisions on what to purchase online, as I am quite far from a Chanel counter. :)

  3. I just received this from my latest saks purchase. What a gorgeous color. It’s so saturated, I love that it feels like a lipstick and a gloss combined. I hope the range is expanded to more colors, because I really like this!

  4. Amy, this is a lovely color and will be perfect for me. At last! Ganda is right: Your blog is a blessing!

  5. I’ve noticed these glosses take on a different colour once applied to the lips. That is to be expected for most glosses but I was surprised given they are thicker than normal glosses. Emoi will be another one to go on my list.

  6. I just discovered your blog and LOVE it! I am now very tempted to get Burberry lipstick in prune. I would love your advice on what lipstick colors I would suit since for so long I have been doing smokey eyes and nude lips but with the fall, would really like to wear lipstick. The URL I included in the form here links to a pic of me – I am on the right with blonde hair, fair yellow toned skin (I think?) and brown eyes. I adore deep, rich lipsticks but either I’m really not used to wearing them or they don’t suit me because I always feel “all mouth”. Your advice would be much appreciated!!

    • Very pretty Yvette! I think Rosewood would look lovely on you–it’s not as deep as Prune but it won’t give you that “all lips” feeling either. I’d also look at Cameo Pink (I’m doing a review of it soon). Don’t get me wrong, Prune will look lovely–but it is a deeper color so I’m not sure how strong you want to go. Rosewood would certainly work for sure–if you do a search for it on this site, you’ll see Liz wearing it so you can get a sense of how it looks on a pale complexion. I hope this helps! :)

  7. I love Liz’s blush in the past few photos…What shade(s) is she wearing???

Its dramatic, yet not overdone on pale skin and looks great with the darker lipsticks.

    • Hi Kate–She’s wearing Guerlain’s Orient Sun, it’s a baked blush from the Terracotta line, now discontinued. They came out with a similar product this summer–and I’m hoping they do again next year. It’s similar to a MAC mineralized skin finish, but I find it much more finely milled and gorgeous.

  8. That looks lovely! I really like these sorts of colours. A very wearable darker lip shade.

  9. Hi Amy,
This is my first time reading a blog believe it or not, and I got to u by looking up Chanel’s Rouge Allure Extrait de Gloss in Fatale and exces. Ive always used very light pink beige and sand colors for lips and nails, just recently i satarted using hot pinks and bordaux for nails and I know for fall and winter Reds are wt to wear, so my Q to u is if im burnette with higlights but my skin is bronze im not white but not so dark what will u recomend to buy Fatale or Excess?
Thanks so much in advance and I loved ur blog ur swatches and pictures and explanations of the products are AMAZING, I will defenetley visit you again! CONGRATS!!!

    • Betty– thank you so much for visiting! I think either would be lovely. Do you prefer to wear true reds or deeper reds in lipsticks? If true reds, go for excess– if deeper then Fatale. I slightly prefer Fatale because it is a touch less bright. many women prefer a brighter tone, however. They are both quite universal, so either would work– it just depends which look you are going for I hope this helps!

  10. Thank you I think il go for Fatale by the way do u think there is a chance to find the rouge fatale nail polish in a duty free in Barcelona???

    • Betty–It’s worth a try! The discount in the duty free is certainly nice to get. If you are just passing through Barcelona, you should be able to pick up Rouge Fatale in the U.S. or elsewhere if you miss it in Barcelona.
