Chanel’s recent release on Rouge Allure Extrait de Gloss included additional items, including Rouge Allure lipstick in Insolente (#65 / $30) a vibrant pink.

Insolent is a bold choice for Fall, I cannot help love the color but think that it is better suited for Spring and Summer.  It occured to me that this was originally released then in France during the Summer months, perhaps this is our chance to catch up to our European sisters–although a bit later in the year.

Certainly if you love brights, you can wear this year round.  It has a texture that is very consistent with the rest of the Rouge Allure line.  Personally, I find the texture soft and moisturizing.  The formula tends to minimize lines and imperfections in the lips, and give a pretty soft glowing finish without glitter or shimmer.

You can see that Insolent is a very cool pink, although not quite as bright and cool as last Spring’s Chanel Rouge Allure in Super.  I would think that Chanel Insolent lipstick would look quite stunning topped with the cool pink hyper glossy Extrait de Gloss in Insolence.

Here are some comparisons with some other Chanel Rouge Allure lipsticks:  the cooler Super, the more sheer Pink Saphir and the warmer, rosier Desirable:

  1. wow this is the perfect pink! it is lovely

  2. This is gorgeous! Do you think warmer skin tones can carry off this color?
P.S. – I love your website, keep up the good work! 🙂

    • Liz is slightly warm–so, yes I do think so. These cooler pinks tend to look a little more dramatic on warmer tones (like Liz and I), so the color really sort of pops. I do think it flatters warmer tones, but it will be a very pronounced pink (a warmer pink will be more subtle). Thanks so much for dropping by! 🙂

  3. That color is beautiful on you! Although it’s a very bright pink, it looks like it may work with my skin tone as well. I’ll definitely check this out at the counter.

  4. I’ve just discovered your website – and it is fabulous!! This colour is so beautiful….and the blush in this photo is amazing…do you know what was used?

    • Hi Sarah–welcome–It’s Guerlain’s Orient Sun–it was limited edition a year or two ago. I love it too–there’s a newer version called Terracotta Lady–so pretty!
