I had several requests to swatch compare the Chantecaille Sea Turtle palette (reviewed here) with Chanel Regard Perle (reviewed here).  To do this, I removed all of the gold overspray from my Chantecaille palette so that you would see the colors in their purest form.

As you can see, the palettes are in the same feeling but hardly duplicates.  Here are differences:

  • Chanel Regard Perle has about half the product amount–Chanel has .24 ounces ($56) versus Chantecaille with .42 ounces ($79).
  • Chanel’s highlight color is more of a true white;  Chantecaille’s is a beige-gold
  • Chanel’s brown has a lot of gold-peach, while Chantecaille’s is a softer gold-brown
  • Chanel’s peach has more pink.  Chantecaille’s is more gold-peach with a touch of pink, and is large enough to use as a blush.  You’d burn up a lot of product to use Chanel’s peach as a blush.
  • The greens are close.  Chanel’s deep green is slightly more intense;  Chantecaille’s is only subtly different with a slight hint of silver.

As a reminder, these swatches were taken with all of the Chantecaille’s gold overlay off.  As you can see, all the colors remain quite shimmery even without any gold mixed in.  One more, with Chantecaille on top:

  1. the turtle palette looks so much smoother than the chanel

  2. I think both are beautiful and not much difference. I have Chantecaille Sea Turtle and the color is soft & sheer, but it compliments my pale warm skin tone. Your description of the colors are excellent.

  3. Beautiful comparison. Thank you! I would have never thought to compare the two. It’s remarkable how they complement each other, but yes, you’re right they are different and unique in their own way with the different sparkles and undertones and finish. I pick up my Chantecaille presale tomorrow and I can’t wait!!!!

  4. Well, that settles that! I’ll have to add Sea Turtles to my loot when I pick up my NM Beauty Event goodies tomorrow. I had been sitting on the fence because I thought it would be so similar to Regard Perlé which didn’t really suit me as much as I had hoped (it was gifted to my niece). Sea Turtles, though, has a lovely soft glow befitting Chantecaille’s more natural; more conservative image. I’ve gotten several of Chantecaille’s special conservation palettes and have not been disappointed yet. Thanks for the timely comparison, Amy. Your pictures are first rate, as always.

  5. Thank you, Amy! This is so helpful. I am thinking Chantecaille of the two for my NC 15 skin. However, I wonder if this palette would be as big of a hit without the little turtle overlays? They are too cute!

  6. If I was only going to purchase one palette, which one would you recommend?

  7. Great comparison!!! I was planning on getting the Chanel one anyways, hadn’t realised that the Chantecaille one was fairly similar in principle!!! Thanks for bringing this to our attention!!!
