One of the most enjoyable parts of makeup shopping abroad is the ability to discover products that are not sold in the U.S. Chanel Vitalumiere Eclat Comfort Radiance Compact Makeup Foundation SPF 10 (56 euros) is a powder foundation that can be used either alone, or brushed on as a finishing powder.

The large Chanel-embossed compact is packed in a luxurious velvet pouch, slight thicker and plusher than the thin ones that come on most U.S. products.  Inside, there is both a brush (for lighter application) and sponge (for heavy application) included.

The finish is creamy and slight luminious, unlike the matte Double Perfection Compact sold in the U.S.  Although I am an NC15/Chanel Cameo, I was matched to B30 Beige Sable.  The instruction booklet that comes with the product indicates that the compact is refillable (approximate 40 euros), I will probably pick up a few more shades in the refill version while I am here to try out the different color range.

I wore this yesterday as a finishing powder over Chanel Vitalumiere foundation in B20, which was applied over the Le Blanc de Chanel finishing base.  I thought it looked fabulous, but it’s hard to be objective just after a lovely makeover in such pleasant surroundings.   I’ll do my best to update after more road tests.

  1. That’s so odd. We have this powder as well as a matte lumiere powder in Canada, but not the double perfection one. Also, I believe it is much less than the equivalent of 56 euros. Thanks for the lovely posts.

  2. Oh wow! That looks fab!! I’m yet to find a pressed powder foundation that looks luminous, this sounds perfect. I was so excited for the Vitalumiere Aqua but unfortunately there is no match for my NC43/ Chanel Vitalumiere 50 Tawny Beige complexion! :((
I didn’t expect that especially since the Vitalumiere is probably the best match ever for me.. Oh well.. The Chanel makeup artist at BG said that they are going to be reformulating the Prolumiere come Fall, maybe that range will have more colors? Can’t wait to see more Paris exclusive Chanel beauties! 🙂

  3. You can still buy it online @ strawberry etc.

  8. Hi. I followed a link from the Beauty Look Book to your blog. I’m rather surprised that it’s not sold in US. May I know how much the product (powder only) refill weighs? Is it also 13 grams?

  9. I got this in the mail today and immediately had to try it on. Wow! Made my skin look airbrushed. Thank you for posting this review or I would have never discovered it.

  10. Your recommendations and reviews help immensely, Amy, and I was able to pick up the Fauvre shadow, Vitalumière Éclat compact, and Sublime de Chanel mascara when I was in Canada last month. Since you’ve better channels of information than I, do you happen to know if there are any plans to sell Vitalumière Éclat in the US? I saw in one of your other posts that Sublime de Chanel will be available this summer — can’t wait! Thank you kindly.

    • I don’t know of any plans to bring Vitalumiere Eclat to the U.S. You might try calling Nordstrom Seattle–they have a Chanel Studio there and may be able to get you the product.
