Previously, I introduced the Rouge Bunny Rouge brand (see here) and today I’m looking at the line’s Seas of Illumination Highlighting Liquid in Sea of Tranquility (approximately $70 for 1 ounce, available for shipping to the U.S. from Zuneta.com).  This liquid highlighter is a refined version that gives a smooth glow without any sparkle or heavy metallics.

Sea of Tranquility has a decided pink cast, which shows up with a fair amount of drama on my pale warm skintone.  Those will cooler skin tones will love this color–the pink is believable, healthy and beautiful.  If you like Benefit Highbeam or Nars Liquid Illuminator in Copacabana (reviewed here), you will find that Sea of Tranquility is a slightly pinker, more refined version of either.  The texture of Rouge Bunny Rouge’s offering is more natural and less thick compared to High Beam.  Rouge Bunny Rouge’s Sea of Tranquility is less sparkly compared with Nars Copacabana.  One might expect this from the different price points–Benefit’s High Beam is $24 for .45 ounces, and Nars Copacabana is $29 for 1.2 ounces.

Comparisons:

The Black Panties makeup blog has done this comparison between Rouge Bunny Rouge Sea of Tranquility and Giorgio Armani’s Fluid Sheer #7.

Bottom line: You don’t need all three, but if I had to choose one I’d go with Rouge Bunny Rouge’s Sea of Tranquility because the texture is the most refined.  I find that wearing a color that stands out on my skin tone is really apparent, and softer textures look more natural.  (Thanks to Liz for letting me borrow her Benefit High Beam and Nars Copacabana for the comparison.)

  1. Wow, I’ve been wanting a good highlighter that is pink tinged. I have warm pale skin too and if you say that out of the three this one would look best, I will not question. I ran out of my High Beam years ago and never bothered to replace it. It’s high time I get a proper pink highlighter. Thanks!

  2. I’ve been reading Rouge Bunny Rouge reviews on The Non-Blond and Visionary Beauty since 2009 and have never been tempted to take the plunge until now. I’m sure my new “lemming” is due in part to the excellent quality of your photographs. Sea of Tranquility and Sea of Showers both look sublime and your comparison swatches really point up the differences in color and finish. I originally thought the RBR illuminators would be like Armani Fluid Sheers, but your pictures clearly show they are not. It looks like I’ll be spending some quality time with Zuneta :-)

  3. The packaging on that bottle is unbelievable! So intricate! I think I may have to break down and order some RBR as well. Will you be reviewing any shadows as well?

  4. All of those highlighters look amazing on you. For me unfortunately, copacabana shows up completely different on me.

Fluid sheers are a bit more sheer in opacity compared to RBRs, but it can be built up to be more opaque. The finish is also different, but they are both nice if you ask me :).

I like this review since you have more highlighters to compare it with and it makes me want to buy even MORE highlighters D: help!! LOL

I’m glad my review is helpful as well :)

  5. Where can I buy this that will ship to the USA? Because I’m so tempted to buy!
    Thanks a million.

BTW- Really great quality blogging, keep it coming especially love the swatching and pictures.

  6. This is the one that keeps talking to me. It looks beautiful, having never had either the High Beam or a multiple, I suspect I’ll just go for broke with RBR!

    • Oops, I realised after typing that, that the Copacabana was an Illuminator not a Multiple. Do excuse me, I’ve obviously not had enough tea yet!

  7. [...] Café Makeup was hopping down the same bunny trail. Sea of Tranquility will make you glow. [...]

  8. Oh for heaven’s sake…you’re killing me!! It’s not enough you have me lusting for half of the Guerlain and Armani lines (and have contributed heavily to my current collection of Chanel, which has taken over the dressing room), but now you’ve got me pining for items I have to go international for. Evil.

That being said, both of the RBR highlighters/bronzers look truly lovely, and as always I appreciate the reviews and fantastic photos! :)
