Chanel Rouge Coco Plumentis ($32 #79) is a soft nude with tones of pink, peach and a hint of mauve that reminds me of the U.S. version of Joues Contraste Orchid Rose blush (reviewed here).   It’s a soft, neutral color that will work with a wide variety of skin tones in a beautiful, moisturizing formula.

Don’t let its quiet neutral color fool you.  Plumentis is one of those lovely colors that you can keep in your purse and wear almost any time.  Although not dramatic, this type of color is invaluable for adding just a touch of natural polish to your look.

Here are some comparisons with some other neutrals in my collection.  First, Chanel Rouge Allure in Mythic, the timeless nude.  Next is Chanel Plumentis.  On the right are Chanel Rouge Coco in the more brown Patchouli (reviewed here) and the deeper toned Stunning (reviewed here).

On lips (no liner):

One more that shows how easily this fits into almost any makeup wardrobe:

Bottom line:  Yes, yes, a thousand times yes.

  1. It looks gorgeous on Liz, but isn’t it comparable to 03 Secret and 02 Perle?

    • It may be Heather–I don’t own either (I don’t think I do at least!) so I don’t have them on hand to compare. It may be that Secret is more pink, and Perle more sheer but I’m working from memory…

      • Thanks for the insight, Amy (and a huge welcome back! You were very much missed.)! I’ll do some comparisons between the two that I own at home and see how they compare to your swatches.

  2. plumetis is my sleeper hit :) I’ve worn it so many times since getting it. even more than some of the RCs i’ve had for ages!

  3. I am so excited for mine to be here tomorrow. It looks so soft and versatile!

  4. @Heather, I recently tried Perle and found it pretty frosty (and surprisingly drying). Haven’t seen Plumetis irl yet but from everything I’ve read it has slight shine and no frost?

    • Thanks, Gail! That’s a good point about the frostiness of Perle. I wonder how it compares in terms of color…

      • Heather, compared to Plumetis, Perle is a little bit darker, going to rose-brownish side, great neutral for fall/winter. When you swatch them next to each other, Plumetis looks like a lighter peachy summery version of Perle. Secret is closer to Stunning.

  5. ah shoot, Amy…it’s so pretty….*scribbles on my list*

  6. do you think maybe in post you can show us how the glosses look over the lipstick? the glosses and lip sticks look amazing and I would like to see how they look over each other.

  7. As a long time lurker, who has never commented but LOVES your blog, I am SO thankful your blog is back up. I was DEVASTATED when it was suddenly shut down with no access to archives and no opportunity to even leave a comment to say thank you to both you Amy and your lovely daughter Liz, for composing one of the best beauty blogs on the net!!!!! I love your focus on high-end brands and I really trust your judgement on products and your photography is always stunning. I understand completely if you don’t have the time to post as frequently as before but as long as the archives remain up, I will be SO GRATEFUL as I always rush to your blog before purchasing something to see if you have reviewed it! Thank you so much for all the time and energy you put into this project! Best wishes from Australia xx
