Chanel Joues Contraste Blush in Rose Ecrin ($42 #68) is a medium rose-pink shade in this beautifully textured formula. Thankfully, this blush is in the soft powder U.S. formula, that has the familiar texture that seems to melt into the skin.

Rose Ecrin is a proper, “tea with the Queen” pink that always looks appropriate.  The blush seems to apply in a slightly deeper tone than it appears in the pan.  Despite the slight glow that you see in the picture above, Rose Ecrin applies as a near-matte on my skin.  It’s a very pretty, subtle blush that you will find yourself reaching for again and again, due to its versatility.

Another swatch:

As you can see, Rose Ecrin swatches neutral to very slightly warm.  For comparison, you can see that it is not as warm as the peachier In Love (reviewed here), nor as cool as Narcisse (limited edition and no longer available/ reviewed here).  Here is a picture of Liz wearing Rose Ecrin directly over foundation (no bronzer):

  1. I love this, very pretty. I have been wearing it a lot since I got mine and got compliments. This is my first Channel blush and definitelly not a last one.

  2. As soon as I saw this natural, blush of pink I knew that it would be the perfect compliment to the more intense, smokier eye looks that we’re seeing for fall. Rose Écrin is a skin-tone pink with the tiniest hint of beige in its base that enables it to blend seamlessly with the surrounding complexion. The result is an utterly believable flush of soft pink that gives a bit of color to what should otherwise be a fairly homogenous complexion. With so much going on with this fall’s dramatic eyes, it’s not the time for a lot of contouring or strong cheek colors and highlighting. With the beautiful Illusion D’Ombre, the eyes should be the star, but the cheeks and lips shouldn’t look washed out. Rose Écrin definitely lives up to its name of pink jewel and will grace any complexion with a delicate breath of believable color that will make it a staple in many women’s cosmetic wardrobes. Just look at the lovely Liz. Her complexion radiates a natural beauty.

  3. This is all over my wishlist right now. Thanks for confirming my lemming!

  4. I was checking out Rose Petale few days ago and now I see Rose Ecrin which looks so similar to it! :) I love such colors!

  5. Beautiful! I’m so glad I decided to order this after all. Thank you for the helpful comparisons!

  6. I was just thinking about your Chanel blush Olympic series the other day. It was nice to see them linked here; I just looked back over the posts, even though I own a lot of the blushes myself. I think that may be the best series anyone has ever had. Love your reviews and swatches (and comparisons!), and again, I am so glad you are back, Amy. You were missed!

    • Thank you, K! I am still planning to do something similar with my collection of Chanel eyeshadow quads. One of these days!! :)
