Chanel Rouge Allure Lipstick in Désinvolte ($32 / #86) is a sophisticated soft peach infused with nude tone. This combination keeps the color closer to the neutral family, unlike many peaches and corals that can pull very warm.

I love Désinvolte (which translates to “casual” in French). It would not attract attention at a counter. However, it gives that famous soft, moisturizing glow that is typical of the Rouge Allure line. I swear, you would think that there are a 1,000 colors just like it. Until you wear it, or see it on a celebrity, and realize that there are not many lipsticks that quietly enhance a woman’s coloring without out-shouting her. I can see this being worn from anything from jeans to a beautiful dress.
I found Désinvolte slightly more beige than the peachier Chanel Rouge Coco Peregrina (reviewed here). The color of the two are close, but the feel of Désinvolte is sophisticated nude. Peregrina is more peach. If these lipsticks were people, Désinvolte would be Catherine Deneuve. Peregrina would be Kate Middleton. Both lovely, just a different experience. To orient you, I’ve included a bright peach-coral (Lancome Chris and Tell) so you can see how soft Désinvolte is by comparison.

On Liz, who has a natural pink tone in her lips:

Between Joyeuse and Désinvolte, I prefer Désinvolte. Liz prefers Joyeuse, she loves pinks and the color goes better with her blonde hair.

This is so pretty! I prefer Désinvolte over Joyeuse as well. I really like how Chanel makes their staple lipstick shades. I don’t own a Rouge Allure yet but I think I’m going to pick up Désinvolte.
Thanks for the review!
i LOVE the desinvolte on liz! would you say it’s sheerer than Peregrina? sometimes i feel Peregrina is TOO opaque…thanks!
can u tell me if Bronze Universel De Chanel will be discontinued or not. because on chanel website this item is out of order..
thanks
Hi Ivy, I do not believe that it is–but you can email Chanel.com to be sure. They will respond in roughly 24 hours.
hi amy!! i was wondering if you would know how similar desinvolte(spelling?) is compared to rouge coco for fall-plumetis? rouge cocos are not great on my lips. they tend to be drying. do you think desinvolte with pampille gloss (from fall collection) would work, especially for the fall collection. if i purchase the eyes and cheeks for fall, the artist at the counter will have to choose something comparable in the rouge allure line. i was hoping this would be similar. thankyou amy!!!! xo
Hi Wendy, Plumentis seems more beige than Desinvolte, although they are both certainly in the same family. And yes, I do believe that Pamille would work with Desinvolte, in my opinion, it would add a touch of a pink tone but they should harmonize well. Have fun!
I didn’t give Désinvolte even half a glance before I saw your comparison with Peregrina. I love Peregrina, but have been wanting a nuder, more subtle version. In fact, this is what I was hoping Plumetis would be (but wasn’t). I will definitely have to check it out in store. Thanks for the beautiful swatches, as always!
You’re welcome! Have fun at the Chanel counter!
