Last week, I did a series on Dior Vernis in Tuxedo, new for Fall 2011, including some comparison pictures.  At the time, I wasn’t happy with the comparison pictures.  I had no nail wheels and too many blue glitters to compare on my nails.  Now my nail wheels arrive, and I’ve done better comparisons with Dior Tuxedo, Butter London Big Smoke, Chanel Nuit de Russie, Chanel Blue Satin, Le Metier de Beaute in Midnight Rendevous and Lancome Indigo Paris.

  1. Beautiful! I actually loved your other swatches on paper/tape as well, but these are even more amazing. Now I want to wear Nuit de Russie.

  2. I was feeling like I missed out on Nuit de Russie since I got into nail polishes late.. but Midnight Rendevous looks decently close in your swatch. 🙂 All are gorgeous!

  3. I agree with Sabrina! And I think I ought to do myself a favor and purchase some of these nail wheels 😉

  4. Gorgeous! I like Tuxedo best out of the grouping, though now I might have to get Chanel Blue Satin. Meanwhile, my Dior Bond Street arrived, and you were right, it’s more of a creamy grey with a hint of smoky blue. I almost can’t wait for fall!

  5. I’d say the Lancome Indigo Blue looks closest, would that be right? Please say yes or I’m feeling like breaking the no-buy my mean husband ordered today. Hahaha, ya like that’ll work!!

    • Yes, absolutely. Indigo Blue is the closest–it’s just that Lancome’s is no longer available and Dior’s has more sparkle in direct sunlight and a touch more purple in strong light. Really, you’ll do much better keeping the peace at home! 🙂

  6. I really loved your handwriting 🙂 And my favourite nail polish has to be Chanel Nuit de Russie.

    • Thank you Marina–that’s actually a typeface called “Handwriting Dakota.” Isn’t it pretty? I downloaded it from a free font site. I thought it would look pretty against the graph paper. Thank you for visiting!

  7. no OPI russian navy? so pretty.

  8. The graph paper background is so fun, and fitting! You have quite a collection of dark navies. For a more affordable option, I think SOPI opening night is another good choice

  9. These swatches are lovely! I have Chanel Blue Satin, which I have to admit I’m not super crazy about (I purchased it unseen & untested) – it’s lovely, but when i applied it it wasn’t what I had expected which lead to some disappointment (it’s damn near black!). When I saw your review of Big Smoke from Butter London, it was EXACTLY what I had hoped out of Blue Satin! I ordered it recently and just applied it today (navy in the summer? um yes) and it is by far my favourite navy ever. It’s so perfect, I can’t stop looking at my nails!
