Here, we examined some swatches of Chanel Graphite ($25) and Revlon Carbonite ($5).  Some readers requested some on-nail swatches, perhaps more far away.  Voila!

  1. Umm hmmm…I’ve been wearing my channel for a week with no chips. Unheard of! I wan to change polish but it still looks so good. Is that extra shine and flash that is why I prefer it over the revlon.

  2. Very nice of you to post extra pictures. I personally can tell the difference from a mile away and why I can justify Chanel. Always have, always will. Have I said that I am so happy this blog is back? Your pictures are hands down the best in the blog world. I love going to the makeup counter knowing exactly what I want to try and your blog always helps me with this.

  3. To me, it’s Chanel — no contest. But that is coming from an ardent lover of Chanel. I guess it boils down to whether or not people think the look of Chanel is worth five times that of Revlon!

  4. I think the swatches show that Chanel Graphite has much more dimension than the Revlon “dupe.” I can’t stop looking at my nails while wearing Graphite. It did chip on me, but I also skipped the based coat because I misplaced my CND.

  5. I have both the Chanel and the Revlon. I wore the Chanel without a chip for five days! I can’t say how long the Revlon lasts, as I wore it for a very short time. The Chanel dries to a smooth texture whereas the Revlon feels a bit grittier. Revlon’s is also less shiny than Chanel, however, with a top coat that shouldn’t be an issue.

  6. under the late afternoon light it almost looks golden maybe its the gold flecks or the lighting from the sun reflecting of off it. AMAZING :) graphite has much more silver shimmer to it. just curious, how much shimmer does the polishes have or is it just the camera and lighting that is picking up all the detail?

    • Brittany–If you read the other comments on this thread and the original, you’ll get some feedback from several readers. I think its much more shimmer….

  7. I like how Graphite looks on you, it has sort of a deep starry night thing going on…
