Chanel is set to release four new blushes over the next few weeks. Two of these are new shades–Chanel Tumulte and Chanel Malice (reviewed here).  Two are reformulations of former shades, reformulated in the powder, U.S. versions–Pink Explosion and a very deep purple/mauve Chanel Plum Attraction. For a description of the differences between U.S. and non-U.S. Chanel Joues Contraste blushes, see this review.  Malice looks much peachier than the others in the picture, above. However, in my opinion Malice is not a true peach. Compared with true peach blushes, Malice has a touch of pink/red.

This review is a first look at Chanel Joues Contraste Malice (#71)($43/ Fard a Joues Poudre), a pretty pink-peach that has a touch of soft, subtle sparkle.

As with the other Chanel Joues Contraste blushes, Malice comes in the familiar black square compact with the tiny brown-bristled brush.

Malice is a pretty, soft peach with a touch of pink. Here is a comparison with Chanel Malice, Chanel Rose Petale, Chanel Tweed Corail, and Chanel In Love:

One more:

I literally put these pictures up as my first opportunity, based on reader feedback that sooner is better. I’ll play with this during this week, and am hoping to get some more pictures.  So far, so good!

  1. Where are these available?

    • Rosa, these are just being released now–I’d look for them at your local store this week or next. I know that Nordstrom Seattle has just received these, for example.

  2. Chanel.com and nordstrom already sell it.

Amy do you think Malice is simillar to NARS Amour?

  3. Will you be reviewing the new vitalumiere aqua compact?

    • Not soon, Jamie–I didn’t buy that one. I’m currently using Nars Tinted Moisturizer SPF 30++. It’s working so well, I’m not inclined to change right now.

  4. Malice is similar to Fleur de Lotus, which, I understand, is exclusively released in Asia. It’s peachy but it does have a touch of pink, like Malice.

Thank you for your inputs on Pink Explosion, the former and the new release. I am still using my Pink Explosion from 2010 and I also got a back-up sometime last year.

  5. How does Malice compare to Espiegle? (sorry not sure I spelled that correctly). Thank you for the swatches!

  6. I personally do better with a red tinged peach than a yellow toned one. Looks like another $43 down the hatch! Very nice photos!

  7. WOW I want all three of the new Joues Contraste that you got. I am in TROUBLE! The US JC formula is my favourite powder blush formula. How about you Amy? Do you have a powder formula you prefer to them? Because I need another lemming like a hole in the head….. LOL

  8. Are all of these LE?
