Burberry Beauty has a limited edition Iconic Nudes, which includes the Sheer Summer Glow Natural Highlighting Compact ($50). A combination of two bronzers, a light whisper pink and a pearly highlighter shade, this bronzer adds a soft layer of natural blush-bronzer to those with lighter skin tones.

In sun:

In shade, the pearly texture of the powder can be seen:

Here are swatches both blended (on the left), and of the individual colors on the right:

Burberry’s standard line of bronzers includes a variety for a range of skin tones. This palette appears to be desgined for lighter skin tones–perhaps NC 35 and higher. The colors are so soft and delicate that it’s difficult to apply too much.

I applied the left (bronzer) side of the palette mixed, using a kabuki brush (the Edward Bess Luxury Face Brush) on the contour area of the cheek, and touching it on the forehead, bridge of nose and chin.  I used the hightlighter/blush (the right side) on the top of my cheek. I then used the highlighter color applied lightly just under my brows for a tiny highlight there.

The colors are very soft and natural, and should accommodate both warm and cool skin tones. This is absolutely gorgeous, lovingly made, and embellished with the iconic Burberry check. Absolutely amazing, versatile palette for a natural, glowing look.

  1. I really want this, it’s so pretty!

  2. A thorough review of a lovely product…I can envision this being a product one could use year round. Thanks for sharing!

  3. I just went today to Burberry counter and seems I’ll be going back soon… It really looks great and like a product you can use during summer and the rest of the year.

  4. Thanks so much for the detailed reviews! They are wonderful :D

We won’t have any of the summer collections until mid-May in Hong Kong.

I’m already torn between this Burberry face palette and Chanel sable rose brozer. Would please tell me which one you think is softer in texture?

Since they are so expensive, I would prefer if they can multi task as both face color and eye shadows. Which do you think is a better multi-tasker?

    Thanks :)

    • Burberry is lighter and has a softer color, and Sable Rose gives a more strong, bronzed look. I think either one could be worn on eyes very easily. Really, it’s about how “natural” you want the look to be (Burberry if you want a very soft glow, Chanel for a more traditional bronzer/blush look). Both are lovely–you won’t go wrong either way.

      • Thanks :)

I think I’ll get the Burberry palette. The way it’s lay out I can easily put a blush brush in each color and use separately, and it’s $10 cheaper than the Chanel palette :P

        • Burberry one is already out. In fact I just picked it up at Harbour city yesterday. But in Hong Kong the palette is not sold alone, but together with a kabuki brush, doubling the price.

          • Ppf… That’s ridiculous.
I got their e-mail couple weeks ago for pre-ordering this palette+brush set, thought it’s just kinda L/E set, would sell separately in official release. Obviously not. Not buying it then.
Thanks a lot for telling me Kazu :)
Btw, do you like the palette and brush?

          • Well I am not 100% sure if it’s not a LE thing, I did asked the BA if I can purchase the palette separately and she said no. The palette is wonderful, really creamy powder in extremely wearable colors. I think it should complement every skin tone, and I have fairly typical asian skin with yellow undertone (relatively fair and that’s why I love this palette) Unlike a lot of the other bronzers, this really can be built up slowly without ever overdoing it.

The brush is OK, not as dense as the MAC kabuki but has more bounce to it so it’s more like a powder brush than buffing brush. Obviously the quality is no where near leading japanese brush makers such as chikuhodo and hakuhodo, but the pricing also reflects that (~HKD400). I suppose it’s not too shaby. Some people do like this brush very much, you can check out some of the reviews on burberry beauty brush.

          • I’ve got a Burberry brush (gift w/ purchase), not impressed. So no, I’m not gonna pay extra for something I may not like.

But the face palette does sound very lovely. I’m considering buying from US using comgateway, will definitely go to the Burberry counter and play with it first.

Thanks for sharing your view :D

          • Hi Kazu, I just bought the face palette alone from the DFS (tsim sha tsui)! So happy XD
I went to their counter in harbour city first. The SA there was sure “the palette & the brush are sold together in all Burberry counters, no exceptions.” I thought I have to buy from Nordstrom then.
But I found it in DFS! Sold alone for hk$410! I am so happy :D

  5. How do the bronzers compare to Burberry’s Earthy blush?

    • Earthy is VERY cool toned, almost a taupe. Also, Earthy must be applied lightly on my light-toned skin or it becomes too dark very quickly. This bronzer has a touch of pink, and a much more natural healthy but natural ‘bronze’ look.

      • Thanks Amy! This helps a lot! I keep reading about raves re. Earthy but every time I go swatch it in store, it just looks too much. Maybe I should try swatching more lightly next time.

        • Christine, it’s a very, very cool blush. Many women will love the effect, but it is not a ‘traditional’ blush color. It’s probably one of the most edgy colors in an otherwise very conservative Burberry color line.

  6. This will be my first Burberry beauty product. I cannot wait until it gets here. Thanks for sharing your review & pics!

  7. So gorgeous! I want this so badly but it actually looks warmer than I expected. Is the sun by any chance warmer up the swatches a bit?

  8. This bronzer looks totally believable, I love it!

  9. pretty swatches!! this didn’t show up on me much at all! :(

  10. thanks for the review. nice pics. :)

I want to buy this summer compact for my mom for mother’s day and one for myself, but do you know if this will work for medium/tan Asian skin tones also? And do you think chanel sable sand will work better for tanned skin?

    • Grace, you would want to go with Sable Rose for tanned skin.

      • Thanks Amy!!

Actually got my mom a Chantecaille lip gloss because they don’t have burberry at the Nordstrom and Saks Fifth Ave near my house. :) I looked at the Chanel summer palettes, and they were pretty tiny. I ordered Chantecaille ‘Compact Soleil’ Bronzer in the color St. Barth’s because the Capri I got originally was too orangish. And the texture is so soft. Thanks for your suggestion though. :) I love your blog. :D

  11. Absolutely gorgeous! Have you tried the colors on the eyes?
