Jun 062012

I’m getting several emails and pointers that a number of Chanel makeup collections are due out over the coming months. I tried to put worksheets together so that I could keep track of them all. I thought I’d post my worksheets for you to use to plan your shopping. I hope that you find these useful.

First, Les Expressions de Chanel is already hitting stores in Europe. I am not sure when the U.S. will receive these. This collection has two mascaras (Inimitable and a waterproof version of Sublime de Chanel). There are three color stories:  Brown Expression, Purple Expression, and Coral Expression.

There are two new Illusion D’Ombre in this collection, and one re-promote (swatched here at the Ommorphia Beauty Bar). The Brown Expression includes a new Illusion D’Ombre in Vision (a gold) and a new eyeshadow quad in Intuition. The Purple Expression repromotes the Illusion D’Ombre in Illisoire and brings us a purple version of Variation (many will recall that the former Chanel Variations had neutral brown tones).

Finally, the Coral Expressions has an new Illusion D’Ombre in Abstraction and repromotes an eyeshadow quad in Eclosion. Images:

It is not clear to me when (or if) Les Expressions de Chanel will launch in the U.S.  I suspect that we will not be getting Sublime de Chanel, as that mascara has not made it to the States yet in a non-waterproof form.

In June, the Chanel Bombay Express collection will launch. This is a capsule collection that features some of the product seen at the Chanel Couture show of the same theme. This includes a star highlighter– Les Routes des Indes de Chanel, that looks lovely in the promotional photo. This also includes a gold toned Le Vernis in Diwali, as well as a new black Illusion D’Ombre in Nirvana. Although I found an image of Nirvana on an international Chanel website, there is some doubt about whether it will be actually released here. Chanel completes this collection with a blush in Brumes D’Or.

In July, Chanel’s Blue Illusion collection will launch. This is a mini-collection of two new Illusion D’Ombre (Apparition and Destination), together with a new blue nail polish Le Vernis Sky Line.  Some are wondering if this will be a limited release to Chanel Boutiques and Chanel Studios (such as in Nordstrom’s Seattle location), but I haven’t received confirmation one way or the other on that.

Don’t forget, in July in the U.S. we are quite likely to see Nordstrom carry the Le Blanc de Chanel, formerly released in Asia. Here’s a write-up on that collection by Rouge Deluxe.  Around this same time (late July/August), we should expect to see Chanel’s enormous Fall 2012 makeup collection, Les Essentiells de Chanel.

Please recall that these are promotional images from Chanel only, and the actual colors released may vary. Here’s a complete list:

  •  Lumière d’Artifices Beiges
  •  Joues Contraste in Rose Initiale
  •  Les 4 Ombres in Premier Regard
  •  Ombre Essentielle in Complice, Éclairé, Furtif, Infini, Noir
  • Stylo Yeux Waterproof in: Silver Light and Noir Intense
  • Rouge Coco in Caractère
  • Rouge Coco Shine in: Chic and Parfait
  • Le Crayon Lèvres in Amarante
  • Rouge Allure Extrait de Gloss Caprice and Troublant.
  • Lèvres Scintillantes in Sweet Beige
  • Le Vernis nail polish in Frenzy, Suspicious and Vertigo.
Some images of Chanel’s Fall 2012 collection can be viewed here on the Asian makeup blog Kuri’s Beauty Report.
I’m going to stop here, not reaching anything yet for Holiday 2012.  I will pass along that I’ve heard that the U.S. is likely to get the Chanel CC Creme during the year 2013.

  1. Hello,
I’ve gotten some insider info that I think can help clarify a few things. First, Dwali will be a Nordstrom exclusive. Also, Nirvana was supposedly canceled and they are not making it. Maybe as a Chanel store exclusive. The Paris-Bombay collection should arrive in stores any day now.

The Blue Illusion collection will be at Mall of America, a top Chanel store but not THE top like Seattle. So my thought is more than just a few stores are getting it.

I’ve listed pricing on my blog, Glossy Esquire, if you are interested in linking it here. As well as ship dates. Also, I’ll be posting tomorrow the new Chanel Rouge Allure collection coming out in August if you have any interest. It will be 16 new Rouge Allure lipsticks and they are fantastic!

    • We’re excited about the gorgeous upcoming collections. Orders starting to come in!!! Saks will be receiving Bombay collection
(limited stores)…..you can e-mail us if you wish to order (not shipping
til mid July). Fall Collection shipping this week!!! Bleu Illusion collection also shipping in July! Any questions, please advise!!!!

  2. Wonderful, thank you so much!

  3. Some of this is already sold in Canada. The Gold & Silver eye pots, the mascaras. The blue nail polishes was released a couple of months ago and as for Fall 2012, SA told me that she has some of the shipment, but can’t show me the testers.

There was no mention of CC Cream, so that is new to me.

I really love what you have shown us so that we can plan for the next season!

  4. Oh everything looks sooo pretty. If only money was no object. Sigh…

  5. Thank you so much Amy! Your worksheets are wonderful!

  6. Thanks so much for doing this Amy. It’s a huge help!

  7. Thank you for the info! I must have the two highlighters and possibly Vertigo nail polish. 🙂

  8. I wish some of this stuff would show up already! My Nordstrom SA told me that Fall is shipping the week of 6/11/12.

  9. I literally just got an email from my Chanel SA telling me that the Paris-Bombay collection has been pushed back to July! 🙁 There is some sort of issue on Chanel’s end. That means there could potentially be 3 new collections this July: Paris-Bombay, Bleu Illusion, and whatever Nordstrom’s Exclusive for Anniversary Sale is. That is going to be one expensive July for me.

  10. Thank you, Amy, for pulling this all together. We’ve been seeing bits and pieces of these collections all over the Internet for months. It’s nice to have them pulled together so that we an plan our shopping strategy. July and August are going to be expensive, indeed.

  11. Incredibly helpful! Thank you! I hadn’t seen fall yet, but I am very excited. The polishes are great– all three of them, as well as the quad and blush. I asked a Chanel DM about a release for Nordstrom anniversary like last year and she played coy, almost dumb on if they were getting it again. I would love to see the seafoam Illusion D’Ombre come here. The Houston Nordstrom got a total Chanel revamp and redesign that is rather unique. She said counters (I’m assuming Saks, NM, Macy’s, etc) would not be getting it. Have you seen it at your local Nordstrom? It’s beautiful! Everything is laid out in a very ‘try me’ way.

    • I wonder if they are turning it into a “Chanel Studio”–if so, lucky you! That will allow you fast access to many boutique exclusives (for example, Les Exclusifs scents) at your local Nordstrom. It sounds fabulous in any event (I’m very jealous!) 🙂

  12. […] more detailed information on whats coming up from Chanel through Fall please check out Cafe Makeup. I practically threw my wallet in the air after reading their post. It’s just over. I give […]

  13. Wow, thanks for all that info! The blue and gold stuff is just beckoning me to give Chanel all my money..

  14. Very detailed and helpful – thanks so much! Just to let all Canadians know that the Bombay Express is available from June 1st from Chanel boutique in Toronto (I purchased the golden powder and Diwali – that’s all they carry there). Also, Illusion d”Ombre in Nirvana is available on Chanel.com

  15. […] И, конечно же, с  нетерпением ждем новых потрясающих релизов […]

  16. Any news about any of these going into the permanent range?

  17. I should have added that I REALLY hope that these shades will be added permanently to the Illusion D’ombre range. They NEED more shades to offer, as the formula is amazing but none of the permanent ones seem wearable to me. A gold would!

  18. Is this the original Eclosion or a new one?

    • We don’t know yet Susie! Perhaps someone in Europe does-although the coloring looks quite similar to the former version.

      • We have received this collection in Scandinavia already (we get the non-US formula of the quads). Ecloision is the same as the one released with the spring collection.

The golden illusion d’ombre is quite glittery I think. More so than the other illusion d’ombres. Intuition is very pretty, but too warm-toned for me.

I’m very excited to see the new collection of Rouge Allures.

        • The golden illusion d’ombre is also a bit sheerer than the other shades. In formula it is comparable to Fantasme, a clear base with sparkles. You can use is to layer on top of other shades to add a bit of sparkle to your look. It can be layered for more density though so you could wear it alone as well.

          • Oh, Claudia–thank you. That’s a tremendous help. Your comparison to Fantasme spoke 1,000 words. Thank you! I honestly think Cafe Makeup has the best readers (and commenters!!)

        • I have a peek of the new Rogue Allures on my site now. There are 16-17 brand new lip colors (which are great), a few lip liners and they are bringing back Coromandel as part of the permanent nail polish collection. Hope this helps!

      • Thank you so much Amy for this detailed information! I better start saving 🙂 Eclosion is a repromote. In the Netherlands, both quads (Variation and Intuition) and both illusion d’ombre shades will be added to the permanent line.

  19. Thanks Amy! This is a nice way to see things all together (I have my own files to plan out my makeup shopping too) with pictures. I’ve really liked a lot of things from these collections, which seems to make up for my lack of interest in summer.

Do you by any chance have any information for UK release dates? They are proving impossible to find. No sign of any of these collections in London Selfridges today.

    • I’m so sorry Leila, I do not. 🙁 My own release dates are estimates even for the U.S.–things can get moved around. Typically you might track things like Fall by their release dates last year (although the US seems to be getting their items in a little earlier every year for the past several!) Take care and thank you for reading.

      • It’s ok, thanks for your reply. I was expecting the Les Expressions de Chanel release one of these days, since every clue points to around now, but I suppose I’ll have to wait. Oh how I wish we could order directly from Chanel.com here, you guys are lucky.

I have an idea about the fall collection release, well I’m not expecting that until around August, it’s the other two I was interested in for now. I’m glad I wasn’t too crazy about summer, (colours don’t suit me) I only picked up the duo, but autumn is something else! I think I’m gonna buy about half the collection and it’s about time they expanded the extrait de gloss line, only two limited items so far is not enough!

I can’t believe you guys get the autumn collections in June, when summer’s barely started. The collections get earlier each year here too, but it’s starting to get a little ridiculous don’t you think?

Anyway, I really loved this post, it’s so nice to see it all together with pictures.

  20. Thankyou so much for this post! I will have to start saving, I am going to be so broke!

  21. Ooh. This is a beautiful display. I love the Amarante rouge coco and the Vertigo polish looks like a fall staple. Gorgeous!

  22. […] recently released a small eye collection Les Expressions de Chanel outside the U.S. (details here). This includes three eyeshadow quads, including the new Chanel Eyeshadow Quad Variation (#37), […]

  23. Hi, just to let u know the les essentiells d chanel collection is already at neiman marcus since 4/5 days ago and the bombay express is @ chanel.com
    Yeiiiiii !
