Burberry Lip Glow in Hibiscus ($27/ #13) is  a rich cool red lip gloss. The formula feels lush and moisturizing–while visiting drying climates, I find Burberry’s gloss formula soothing rather than drying.

Sometimes women who are comfortable in neutrals begin to transition toward red lipsticks, but feel that the look is too strong.  A sheer red is a nice transition–it allows one to have a strong color, but the sheerness keeps the color from going too strong. I found that Hibiscus is a gorgeous color–Burberry makes this color in a lipstick formula for those who prefer to go that route (swatched here at Drivel About Frivol). Here is Burberrry Hibiscus gloss on Megan:

Burberry Hibiscus gloss is sheerer than similar colors in Chanel Rouge Allure Extrait de Gloss line. Here is Burberry Hibiscus swatched next to Chanel Triomphal and Chanel Fatale, both rich reds. Also, I swatched Chanel’s Rouge Allure Lacque in Dragon (sadly, now discontinued), which is more pigmented and rich than the other three:

Overall, Burberry Hibiscus is a gorgeous formula with a strong sheer red tone that is well within anyone’s comfort zone.

  1. Ooh, I love this shade! I love wearing really pigmented glosses – you can get the boldness of a lipstick without the hassle that reapplying it can cause.

  2. that’s actually super pretty!

  3. So lovely and I like it in the lip color too! Both are going on my list. :)

  4. Burberry’s Rosy Red was the first kind of sheer red lip color that I fell in love with–now I am definitely eyeing Hibiscus! So wearable and can really be played up or down!

  5. What a beautiful shade! Thanks for showing us!
