I bought Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate ($44) during a quick trip to their counter to look at the line. I tried a bit on my hand, which felt wonderful. What really pushed me to buy was a young woman speaking to her friend, who pointed at it and said, “Look. This is magic. You put a few drops on your face at night so your skin looks really alive when you wake up.” I’ll have what she’s having–sign me up.
Although frequently referred to as a serum, Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate has a thin oil texture. The oil has a pleasant, light scent, and is colorless. The scent is far more pleasant to me than Rodin Olio Lusso. In my opinion, the Kiehl’s is gentler and the effect more subtle. Sometimes my skin feels transformed using Rodin’s Olio Lusso–and it can get a little pink in the process. In contrast, the Kiel’s Midnight Recovery leaves my skin soft and glowing but never irritated.
Kiehl’s recommends putting on a drop or a few before going to sleep. Sometimes I wear it in the evenings after taking off my makeup for the day, or in the early mornings as I’m getting things done around the house. It feels wonderful. Ingredient list (click to enlarge);
Overall, Kiehl’s is a lovely, moisturizing light oil that’s helpful if your skin is stressed. It’s non-irritating, moisturizing, and leaves a nice glow behind. Recommended.
