Chanel Rouge Allure Luminous Intense Lipstick in Incandescente ($34 /#97) is a very warm red. The color is extremely striking. I must emphasize that this is a gorgeous striking color.

Those with warm skin tones may find that this leans too warm–I’ve heard some online refer to this as “going orange” elsewhere.  It isn’t orange, but Incandescente isn’t a true neutral red either. Adding some silvers or grays to the eye area will relieve some of the warmth if you love the shade but think you are too warm to pull it off. Another option is to touch-blot it on for a warm red stained look.

This is going to be truly incredible and dramatic on those with cool skin tones, or if you have with cool tones in your hair.    This shade is so strong, I highly recommend that you try it before you commit unless you are comfortable wearing similar shades.

As with the other colors, Chanel Incandescente has a gorgeous, moisturizing texture. Whether this one is for you depends on whether this color fits within your lipstick wardrobe.

  1. Hi Amy, I got an impression that Coromandel is warmer than Incandescente…Do you think that the last color will look good on those with cool complexion? I’m on a cool side but I say far from orange-reds because they make me look drained of color. So far Palpitante looks the most beautiful to me :). Will you swatch Pirate as well?

  2. Do you know if this is a maching lipstick with the “Holiday” nail polish? Thank you for great swatches and detailed review!

  3. Thanks for mentioning the effect on warm skin. It looks too tomato-red on me unless I wear it as a stain. I guess I’m really more comfortable with Coromandel.

  4. It looks like Incandescente & Coromandel may need to be mine. Thank you both so very much for posting these swatches and reviews.
