A few weeks ago, Nars quietly released a series of four Eyeliner Stylo ($27 each). These are liquid, brush-pen eyeliners in four colors–Carpates (black), Nuku Hiva (a deep brown), Atlantic (a deep ocean blue), and Koala (gray).

As you might expect from NARS, these work beautifully. Go in confident, you’ll get a perfect line with a single stroke. I like that these are offered in wearable colors. Of these, I’ve love Atlantic–this deep blue is unusual enough and gives plenty of definition. Yet it’s not the same “same old, same old” black. Swatches:

Bottom line:  All day wear, easy to use, highly wearable colors. Well done.

Nars Cosmetics sent these eyeliners to Cafe Makeup without charge for consideration for review.

  1. I’ve purchased a black one based on Lisa Eldridge’s recommendation two weeks ago, and I’m pretty pleased with it. I often combine the usage of it with the Chantecaille black Stylo, it helps the line to come out more precise.

  2. I’ve got three of these – love!

  3. A quick question, what is the finish on these? Do they dry very shiny like a lot of liquid liners or are they more matte?

  4. Koala looks like the perfect nonblack color I’ve been looking for! I want a break from black (my daily eye is a simple strip of winged liner) but I don’t want to be wearing noticeable colors either. It seems to be a pretty dark navy–in your opinion, once on the eye, would it be noticeable blue or would it just look like “not-quite-black” but not necessarily blue? (If you know what I mean, haha!)

    • Koala is a neutral gray. Altantic is deep blue, so that is my pick for a pretty non-black.

      • Oh duh! Silly me, I had been wondering why “Koala” was the name they chose for a navy…..must just be my tired eyes. Atlantic and Koala are both gorgeous, I might have to get both then!
