Guerlain Attrape Couer 1

There have been a number of vibrant eyeshadow palettes released recently (color is back, baby!). In the mix of textures and offerings, I didn’t want to let the Spring 2013 collection season go by without a look at Guerlain Attrape Coeur Eyeshadow Quad ($59). This was the colorful palette this season that I found to be easy to use, gentle in color tone, and made of wearable vibrant shades.

Guerlain Attrape Couer 2

Guerlain’s Attrape Coeur has a shimmery white highlighter color, a soft lavendar, a vibrant violet duochrome and a deep complex dark purple-violet that is striking as a liner.

Guerlain Attrape Coeur’s color can be applied light and sheer so that it doesn’t overwhelm. These shades are vibrant. Although they can be built up, we found that applying them with a soft hand gave us a look that’s pretty but not too heavy.

Here’s Liz wearing Guerlain Attrape Coeur with Tom Ford Cherry Lush lipstick and Burberry Coral Pink Blush.

The quality of Guerlain’s 4-color eyeshadow palettes is becoming well known. It’s no surprise that Guerlain Attrape Coeur is selling out. I noticed that it is still up for sale on Neimans and Saks websites, but seems to be gone from  Nordstrom.com at this point.

Bottom line: Speak now (or forever hold your peace). This one’s limited edition. There are lines with more opaque shades out for Spring ’13 (MAC’s Spoiled Rich quad looks amazing on Mostly Sunny, but I don’t think it would on me and Temptalia certainly didn’t love it). For my aesthetic, I jumped on Guerlain Attrape Coeur and love it. I can use some of the vibrant shades with shell and brown neutrals, or on its own for a more vibrant look.

  1. Hi Amy,

I’ve been enjoying all the color this spring as well. The pink-violet color in Attrape Coeur is a standout and looks very fresh on Liz!

  2. Aww thanks for linking me! I have this one too and I love how soft and feminine it looks on you! If I had to pick between Spoiled Rich and Attrape-Coeur, I’d pick Attrape-Coeur because it’s more versatile. You can choose to keep it toned-down. Also it’s much easier to work with!

  3. I was on the fence about this for awhile, and decided to order it finally….I think I got one of the last ones at Nordstrom! Beautiful look on Liz!!

  4. ♥ it!! I’d buy it if I could.

  5. Those colors are absolutely gorgeous! I wish they weren’t so expensive, or I would try them out. It looks very natural on you. How long would you say that one container will last you? Hopefully a long time, considering the cost.

  6. Attrape-Cœur has certainly captured my heart! I love the ability to layer colors, blend one into another, and create ombré looks. This quad certainly let’s me do all that and in intensity that can range from delicate and crystalline to bold and dramatic. When I wear this quad, I also use Perles du Paradis swept across my cheek bones instead of a traditional blusher. I’m fair enough (NC15) that the Météorites actually give me a delicate flush of luminous berry color that is beautiful with Attrape-Cœur. For purple lovers, Attrape-Cœur is a must.

  7. I definitely have been seeing some other purple palettes pop up for spring but this one is by far the most gorgeous! It has taken all of my willpower NOT to indulge…I am already eyeing Giorgio Armani’s new ETK Quad Shimmer in Fatal 😛

  8. This palette has been on my wishlist for a while. I am so tempted to buy it today but there were a couple of other limited edition Guerlain palettes I wanted more. Your post served as a reminder for me to grab these limited edition palettes. They were almost gone but I was able to get them at Saks. I also prefer using layerable, blendable medium-pigmented eye shadows than highly pigmented ones. I find too pigmented shadows harder to work with and they make my face look too ‘made up.’

  9. I love the finish of Guerlain eyeshadows, they’re so easy to wear, and sheer without being patchy or hard to work with. I’m passing on this one for the sole reason that I’m not a big fan of purple (thank god because I just fell in love with Guerlain palettes after purchasing Place Vendome and I probably shouldn’t be buying any more for awhile), but I can definitely see why this one’s been selling out.
