Tom Ford She Wolf3

Tom Ford Ombre Eye Color in She Wolf is a beautiful series of brown gray taupes in a matte, shimmer, and sparkle texture. You’ll see that this palette is a bit of a chameleon–like many taupes, there is a color shift depending on the light. Indoors, Tom Ford She Wolf’s cool gray side shows–this is the more typical coloring for the palette.

Although all three shade are lovely, the center shade is particularly gorgeous. Swatches:

Here are some more images–I wanted to include a true black (Shu ME 990), a good grey (Chanel Gris Exquis), and a few more taupes for comparison.  Here, I’ve included Chanel Taupe Grise, Chanel Safari and Shu Uemura ME Silver 945:

I’ll continue to play with both throughout the week, and post more as I learn more.

  1. I WANT I WANT, gah, I love the way Tom Ford does sparkly eyeshadows that even look good on 30somethingmores so this one will be mine…S.O.O.N.

    • They even look good on 69 year olds! LOL I love the judicious use of TF’s adult glitter. And what a delightful name for it–celestial layer :-) I’m really looking forward to giving the new trios a try.

  2. These palettes are missing a bit of the “wow” factor for me. Still in love with his quads, though!

  3. so beautiful! i think i need to pick up she wolf. where did you buy yours from?

  4. hi amy!! will liz do a “look” with these shadows so we can see what it actually looks like on the eyes? i’m wondering if this is wearable for a day look? thankyou for the great reviews!! xxxx

  5. Hi Amy,

You read my mind when you wrote that the second shade in She Wolf was a standout! I think the Tom Ford trios this fall have had great wearable colors, however I secretly wish they’d gone with a more block-y quad a la YSL for a more luxurious visual effect.

  6. You say gray but the swatches seem more brown taupe. The most beautiful brown taupes I’ve seen in a while. My last disappointment was a RBR shadow that was swatched as taupe but came out gray/lavender on me. A very bad color on my pale, redheaded skin. Bobbi Brown’s Bobbi’s Browns was a set this spring that included a palette with Ivory, stone shimmer, cement and expresso. The stone shimmer was the best brown taupe I’ve seen in a long time. Very little shimmer and great color. But when I went to purchase it separately ( which was incrdible because the best colors in her palettes are usually limited editiion) the stone shimmer was all silver shimmer and very little taupe. This palette appears to have the same coloration. I hope the colors look more like the swatches on your hand than in the pan, because I am going to try to hunt it down. But there is no where around here that I can sample Ton Ford cosmetics, so I will have to purchase it blindly. Hopefully, the department stores have a more liberal return policy than RBR did! Thanks for your rapid swatching, I hope I have good luck with this one. It will be my first Tom Ford purchase.

    • Ellen, these pictures were taken late in the day, so the light was a bit warm. I’m going to do some more swatching and comparisons and hopefully post later today.

  7. These trios are so beautiful. Very sophisticated and very day wear. The glittery eyeshadow looks the best though for a surreal effect. I found these shadows to be very angelic. Waiting for the tutorial.

  8. where can i buy this im desperate

  9. So pretty! I really want to try out this palettes they are so pigmented!! Great post!

  10. These are so lovely! The ‘She Wolf’ palette looks like one of those eye shadow palettes I would buy and end up wearing every day until I used it up. Thanks for the swatches, you’ve convinced me to buy!

  11. Thanks for adding some comparison swatches, Amy. They help us better understand the mix of gray and brown, and She Wolf does, indeed, look just like the mixture of colors you’d see in a wolf’s beautiful pelt. Like Selina T., I can imagine using this one down to the pan–something I very seldom do because I’m so fickle when it comes to eyeshadows :-) I can hardly wait for TF’s collection to arrive at the counter. I have the feeling She Wolf is going to be a huge hit.

  12. Wow, how beautiful! I could definitely use all of these shades on a daily basis, even the glitter!
