Tom Ford Spring Lipsticks: Paradiso, Summer Fling and Pink Dune Review

March 5, 2014

Tom Ford Spring Lipsticks01

Tom Ford has released a series of new limited edition lipsticks for Spring 2014 ($49). Here, we chose three shades from the line-up chosen primarily from The Beauty Look Book’s helpful review.  Pink Dune is a soft neutral with shimmer. Summer Fling is a soft medium pink. And Paradiso is a vibrant pink.

Overall, the pigmentation of these is softer than the standard Tom Ford lipstick line, and stronger than his Color Shines. The colors with shimmer feel ever-so-slightly gritty on application, but seem to soften to a moisturizing feel.

These apply well, as you may expect. There is a soft vanilla scent. Although your experience may vary, both Liz and I find that the Chanel Rouge Allure formula feels more moisturizing and more luxurious than these three Tom Ford choices. The wear time on the Chanel is longer. We found that the wear time on these three Tom Fords was short to medium. Nonetheless, all three Tom Ford Spring colors that we chose are undisputedly gorgeous and we’ll use them to the last bit.

Pink Dune is a soft neutral pink with a beautiful golden shimmer.

Summer Fling is a soft sheer pink with shimmer.

Tom Ford Spring Lipsticks10As you can likely guess, Tom Ford Summer Fling is a go-with-eveything pink.  If you are undecided, Summer Fling is a safest choice.

Tom Ford Paradiso is a beautiful rich pink, which can pick up a bit of coral tones when applied.

Overall, another successful release from Tom Ford. I believe that the pictures speak for themselves. These are beautiful.

Beautiful photos! I’ve been loving Pink Dune and am contemplating getting Sweet Spot. The white packaging is so chic!

I love all of these, I’m just worried about them being too warm!

I chose these because they were on the warm side. You might check out Incorrigible (reviewed here at Temptalia).. It’s much more vibrant, of course. Given the price point, you will want to get a color that is really perfection on you. I suspect we’ll be seeing so many wonderful colors this year, that if you don’t see something you love in this release that you’ll find something else in another line to love.

I really like three of them that I have, Paradiso, Summer Fling and Sweet Spot. But I can’t agree more to your observation about Rouge Allures being more moisturizing and long lasting. Especially Paradiso dries my lips after it fades, I have no problem with Summer Fling in this respect though. I am debating about pink dune since those will be released here soon, which one is your favorite? Is Pink Dune very sheer?

Sara, Pink Dune is very sheer. Also, of the three of have, it’s wear time is the shortest. Summer Fling is my favorite of the three. Thanks for your comment–lovely to hear from you as always!

    Hi Amy,

I love how natural Summer Fling looks on Liz! The other two colors are gorgeous as well! 🙂

I just love Paradiso and Summer Fling!

Oh my, these are stunning. I adore the Paradiso shade. Getting it as we speak!!!

  • Gail March 6, 2014 at 2:27 pm

I have the same 3 and *love* them. I haven’t been wearing anything else since I got them. On me they are moisturizing and I adore the scent. I’m actually not a fan of the new Chanel Rouge Allures. I much preferred the old RA formula as I find the new ones drying.

I also bought the same three – Sabrina’s review was very helpful for me as well (especially since I don’t have a TF counter near me in Colorado). I know Pink Dune is sheer but it’s my absolute favorite of the bunch but Paradiso is ah-maze-ing. I was left wanting more of the polishes and only picked up the three lip products. Previews of the summer collection looking amazing!!!

Love the swatches (especially Paradiso), but I am totally in LOVE with the nailpolish in the 3rd picture. Could you please let me know what brand and color it is? Thank you kindly! Love your blog 🙂

    • Amy March 6, 2014 at 10:37 pm

Hi Mags, Liz had her nails done as gels at a salon, so I’m not sure of the name.

That just seems so expensive to me for a lipstick that doesn’t have a very long wear time, not matter how pretty the color or the packaging.

I agree with you. You’re paying for the upscale packaging and the Tom Ford name. As one of the Estee Lauder brands, the Tom Ford lipsticks are made in the same plants where the Estee Lauder, Clinique and Bobbi Brown lipsticks are manufactured. Lauder doesn’t have a separate manufacturing plant just for the Tom Ford products.
