Tatcha 01aTatcha is an elegant skincare line that does a superb job with everything that I’ve tried. Without exception. They use simple, powerful formulations that are designed to integrate beautifully into one’s life. This philosophy relies on time-tested ingredients, sophisticated science, and the power of natural ingredients derived from the East. The new Tatcha Water Collection is a wonderful addition that is consistent with this intent of the line.

The mainstay of Tatcha’s new Water Collection is the Luminous Deep Hydration Firming Serum ($95/1.0 oz). For me, this serum performed several tasks–it was a lovely moisturizing serum that dried down immediately that was virtually weightless on my skin. Somehow, the product acted as a beautiful makeup base, giving me a lovely, even texture on my skin. In part, this was because (after a minute or two) my skin looked glowing and smooth. The other was because the texture of the product–which is featherweight–provided a wonderful base that seemed to allow my foundation to glide on and stay all day.

As always, Tacha’s packaging is a luxurious joy  to use. This pump bottle feels like glass, yet seemed to survive several runs in checked luggage unscathed. The serum is clear, and has a very subtle scent that fades quickly.

One pump completely covered my face, although sometimes I used another for neck. Unlike a moisturizer, Tacha’s Luminous Deep Hydration serum is a true serum–the product is light and quickly absorbs. It uses a blend of Okinawa red algae and hyaluronic acid to soothe and firm my skin.  The effects are not immediate, as in “you look in the mirror, your face becomes transformed.” Rather, for me Tatcha’s Luminous serum is cumulative and perceptible over time. After about three days, my 5 pm glance in the mirror told me that my face looked more bright, smoother, and more firm and younger. The longer that I used it, the strong the effect became.

Although you might think that the serum is enough, you must, must, must try the Tatcha Luminous Deep Hydration Revitalizing Eye Mask ($12 for one/ $95 for 10). This is the very best eye mask that I’ve ever used., including those I’ve received from spas.

The mask comes in two parts, in a foil packet that infuses the clear liquid into the mask.

Tatcha 17The foil packet is travel friendly, but after the first time use I can see integrating this into a weekly home routine.

The masks simply sit around the eye area. I got lost in a writing project, and left them on for about twenty minutes. There is not a hint of harshness, rather there is a feeling of hydration and freshness.

Tatcha 22Afterwards, my eye area felt tightened, toned and hydrated in a “you look in the mirror, your face becomes transformed” kind of way. The effect lasted well into the next day, even a bit into a third day. Really, incredible. Must try, and with the $12 version sold separately, that is easy to do without making a large investment.

Overall, both Tacha items are a beautifully formulated, effective, and integrate beautifully into my current beauty routine. Truly some of the best, most thoughtful of the skincare collections.  These are available at Tacha online. Although the eye mask is currently sold out (sob!) , it should be re-stocked soon. Also, the line is carried at Barneys although these items do not appear to be stocked yet I am hopeful that they will be soon.

  1. The Deep Hydration Firming Serum sounds lovely! Although I have oily skin, I also have dehydrated areas and am always on the lookout for products that can hydrate without being oily and also help with anti-aging.

  2. Wow!! a great product and a very nice review about it :) thanks for posting XX

  3. You know Tatcha is my weakness :-) I have dry mature skin and have thoroughly embraced the Water Collection. I use the face mask for special occasions and for those times when we are experiencing extremely dry and windy Santa Ana conditions here in So Cal. As for the Dewy Mist spray, I have not been without that wonderful setting and moisturizing mist since it was first introduced. So, you can imagine how thrilled I was when Tatcha added two more products to this particular collection.

The eye masks are exactly as you’ve described, Amy, and I completely agree that they are the best in class. Believe me, at 70, crepeiness in the eye area is a given and yet these eye masks deeply hydrate the skin so that my eye area looks brighter, smoother and much more even in texture. I apply the patches and wipe the extra serum all over the rest of my eye area. I then lie down for 15-20 minutes and just relax. (My husband says I’m power napping :-) ) When I get up, my eyes look rested and the area around them is restored to a more youthful mien. And, with proper care, the effect seems to last 2-3 days. I would imagine with regular weekly use, the effect would become cumulative and prolonged even more. It’s no wonder that they are sold out. When back in stock, I plan on ordering a lifetime supply! LOL

The daily serum has been transformative. It is a wonderful way to keep the benefits of the face or eye mask going. Once again, Amy, your description of how it performs is spot on. I believe the soft glow you mentioned is because there is very fine gold in the serum which is why you’re supposed to shake it before using. If you squirt out one pump and then shake it and squirt out another beside it, you will see the difference. It took me awhile to get in the habit of shaking it first, but now it is second nature. I was also happy that Tatcha makes this serum in a travel size. I carry it in my purse for those times I’m going to be out of the house all day. If I begin to develop any parched patches, I just apply a little bit of the serum as a touch up. I joked on another blog that I hoped Tatcha would come out with an industrial sized version of this serum so I could bathe in it :-)

    • I didn’t realize you had to shake it – even though it says so on the bottle (duh me!). lol I’m just finishing up another serum before I start the Tatcha so glad I know now. I love the fine gold in it, it just looks like you’re putting something extra special on your skin which is true, Tatcha products are wonderful.

      • Hi Evelyn,

I laughed about your duh! moment because I had a lot of those in the beginning :-) I hope the serum will be as beneficial to you as it has been to me. I’m on week four now and have also noted a definite feeling of firmness. I don’t have much sagging, even at my age, but I think my makeup applies better when my skin feels smooth, well hydrated, and firm and Tatcha seems to be accomplishing all that.
