For some reason, I became obsessed with lashes, lashes, lashes this week.

First, I started using Le Metier de Beaute’s Peau Vierge Lash Growth Serum ($95).  When Latisse was first approved for lash growth, I used it for about four months before I became hesitant after the FDA increased the warning.  Although my lashes got incredibly long using Latisse, the effect lasts only a few months.

I purchased Le Metier’s Peau Veirge Lash Growth Serum last December, and have only started using it now.  I’ll see how it goes and report back.

Second, I’ve been seeing some favorable reports for Benefit’s They’re Real Mascara on makeup boards and at Lipglossiping.  I tried to order a tube, but just got a back-order notice until mid-August.  I’m shaking my fist at Benefit–don’t they realize that in the beauty blogging world, August is practically Christmas?

Instead, I’m investigating Giorgio Armani’s Eyes to Kill reviewed by The Beauty Look Book.

Third,  I’ve become very curious about false lashes.  They always seemed unwieldy to me, but Lisa Eldridge has done some tutorials (here and here) that make me imagine that I could do it.  Have you used them?

Also, I fell in love with these pictures of a Shu Uemura collection from the Makeup Blogette.  So pretty!

Here’s what my beauty blogging friends are obsessed with this week:

  • Gouldylox Reviews shares with us her at-home foot smoothing find with Emjoi Micro Pedi. Perfect for summer sandal season.

Here’s what I’m obsessed with this week…

1. Well-Conditioned Hair.  Frizzy hair can be such a problem in warm weather.  Lately my stylist has been using L’Oreal Fiberceutic conditioner on my hair, making a significant difference.  As I pay a flat monthly rate (yes, I really am that high maintenance), I’m not sure how much the treatment costs separately.  It  is helping make my hair look softer, smoother and healthier.

2. Michelle Obama wore a dress from Target.  I so admire Michelle Obama, and never more so than when she visited an air station in Virginia wearing this little Merona number from Tar-jay.  Even better, this dress is something that we’ve seen before.  Some style icons know how to keep it real.  Belt by Sacai.

 3.  Nars website re-design.  NARS completely reconfigured the website.  Beautifully done. It’s clean, it’s easy, it’s intuitive.  Plus, they have $20 off/$100 order with the code NEWWEBSITE.  I think it’s finally time to pick up a Yachiyo…

Some of the links take you in the company’s history.  Under “World of Nars,” I found pages that explained the names of his products:

In the meantime, Liz and I are continuing to organize items for our upcoming MAC Blogsale. We’ve taken your suggestion to heart, and have been busy gathering bubble wrap for the sale to come. You’ll find the sale at the “MAC Blogsale” link at the top of the page.

Here’s what my fellow beauty bloggers are obsessed with this week….

  • Café Makeup had high praise for Burberry’s new Fresh Glow Luminous Fluid Base, calling it a “best in class” primer.
  • Best Things in Beauty offered a sneak peek at Chanel’s Aquillaries de Chanel Collection.
  • The Beauty Look Book showed us why we need Le Métier de Beauté’s True Romance Nail Lacquer, a Nordstrom Anniversary exclusive.

Here’s what three things I’m obsessed with this week:

1.  Karl Lagerfeld Does it His Way  Many of you know that Karl Lagerfeld sketches with Shu Uemura eyeshadows:

Now he’s sketched out designs for  a series of pens and lighters for S.T. Dupont using Shu Uemura nail polish to show the burgundy lacquer for an elegant fan-shaped writing instrument.

I have to love a designer who isn’t constrained by convention.  He is a true original in every sense of the word.

2.  Cleaning House  This week Liz and I started a cleaning campaign.  We noticed that we rarely reach for our MAC items, and so that it is time to put several items up on the auction block.  Most of these are Liz’s, so she spent much of last evening photographing them for sale.

Because we rarely use our eBay accounts, we are limited to selling only 5 MAC items per 30 day period, at least until we build up some positive feedback. If anyone has any suggestions for an alternative high-volume auction site, would you let us know?  We’re also thinking of putting up a sale page on Cafe Makeup instead.  Specktra.com is another great site for selling MAC.  What would you do?

3. Vogue.com Australia recommends Cafe Makeup:   This week, Vogue.com Australia recommended Cafe Makeup’s review of Chanel’s Khaki Platine pencil in a feature for Favorite Blog Posts of the Week.

This is truly a dream come true for Cafe Makeup.  I’m so honored. Liz and I spent most of Thursday texting each other “Vogue!”  “Cafe Makeup’s linked by Vogue!” and smiling.

Here’s what my beauty blogging BFF’s are obsessed with this week:

Karla Sugar fell hard for Le Métier de Beauté’s Rock ‘n’ Romance nail polish set (a Nordstrom Anniversary exclusive).
Café Makeup showed us Chanel’s Joues Contraste in Rose Tourbillon, another Nordstrom Anniversary special.
The Non-Blonde continued her makeup brush series with Le Métier de Beauté’s Blush Brush.
Fab over Forty featured Blue Tie, the lovely new Dior Collection for Fall 2011.
Best Things in Beauty had a sneak peek at Giorgio Armani Beauty’s unique jacquard palettes for Fall 2011.
Daly Beauty compared a few beautiful bronzers with self-tanners for summer.
The Beauty Look Book reminisced about Chanel’s timeless Autumn Les Vernis Nail Colours.
Product Girl showed us Zoya’s gorgeous new Smoke & Mirrors Collection for Fall 2011.
DivaDebbi featured a retrospective of Alexander McQueen’s “Savage Beauty.”

Have a beautiful summer weekend!

Here’s what three things I’m obsessed with this week:

First, Anna Wintour –well, yes in general.  Also, the fact that she just won the Legion of Honour in France.  And the fact that she wore a new Chanel couture suit the day after the same design walked the Chanel Paris Couture Show for Fall/Winter 2011-2012.

Tuesday on the Runway

I find her so fascinating.   I admire her many accomplishments and her strength.

Wednesday on Anna

Second, this advice from backstage at one of the shows at Paris Fashion Week.  Words to live by…

Third, Chanel Illusion D’Ombre eyeshadows.  I’ve worn Mirifique as a liner every day since I first opened it.  Today I wore it with a dab of Emerveille, and loved it.  Emerveille gave a slight gold-peach gold to my lids.  As I wore the combination throughout the day, my skin warmed the products.  The sharp line between the liner and Emerveille got a touch softer throughout the day.  I actually liked the combination more the longer I wore it.  With no base, plenty of great wear time with these–Mirifique stayed on my top lashline where it belonged.  Emerveille looks peachy, shimmery, soft and pretty for 10 hours.  I’m obsessed.

I’ve noticed that Shiseido has announced a line of shimmery creme eyeshadows to replace their current Hydropowder line, due out this Fall 2011.

For a preview, see Rouge Deluxe’s overview here and here.  I wonder how they will compare to Chanel’s Illusion D’Ombre?

~~Here are what fellow beauty bloggers are obsessed with this week:

Here’s what three things I’m obsessed with this week:

First, the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is upon us, including beauty exclusives.  These will include Chanel’s Le Blanc Collection (an Asia exclusive set available there earlier this year).  I picked up a few items through the assistance of a friend, but missed this one–Chanel Joues Contraste Rose Tourbillon blush (#43):

I’m also looking forward to picking up this nail polish set from Le Metier de Beaute called Rock n Romance for $25:

Second, Chanel alert! Rumors of a new coral nail polish for Chanel are surfacing.  An article in the L.A. Times featured an interview the Chanel’s  global creative director of Chanel Makeup and renaissance artist Peter Philips, who described some of this process for developing new nail colors.

According to the LA Times, Chanel has helped lead us into an era where we’ll wear blue or yellow polish.  Consider this quote: “…by putting those shades in Chanel packaging, you give it credibility. If Chanel makes a surf board, it’s cool. Not every brand can do that.”

Finally, Philips threw us all this hint about an upcoming color–“In New York, I got a shopping bag with a handle in this amazing coral color,” he said. “It will be a nail polish.”  We’ll look for that one, Peter!   Here’s my question to you– do you find yourself wearing more dramatic nail colors now, compared to past years?

Third, this Dior video featuring Fall 2011 clothing (Cafe Makeup thanks romance-twitter goddess Lily of Opulence for linking it).  Here’s another question–do you have two minutes this weekend to watch an absolute fantasy of gorgeous clothing?  I do, I do!

Here’s what some of my beauty blogging BFF’s are obsessed with this week:

  • Daly Beauty suggested some gorgeous green fragrances – perfect summer scents.
