Burberry’s line has a notably original product called the Burberry Fresh Glow Golden Radiance Powder ($48). This is part of last summer’s release. However I’m finding that this particular powder works beautifully for winter, at least for me.
The items come packaged in the heavy, luxurious Burberry plaid-embossed packaging, a soft outer case and a slim wide brush.
Here are the two powders (a review of the Nude Radiance will follow soon):
Despite its name, the Burberry Gold Radiance powder applies as a cool-toned, shimmery powder that reminds me of a soft, glowing taupe. I expect that those with cool skin tones should take a look at the powder, so long as they are up for some radiant shimmer. I found this powder works beautifully for the gray-skied winter months, when my overall color palette in clothing and makeup is more subdued and neutral, because it leaves a sort of silver-taupe impression. If you are a bronzer aficionado, you’ll immediately notice that this “radiance powder” is distinctly different. Consistent with this gorgeous, unique quality, Burberry Fresh Glow Golden Radiance Powder is not sold as a bronzer. As Liz identified, there is something distinctly Burberry about this powder.
I originally tried this when a Burberry sales associate tried it on me in August, paired with the Nude Radiance powder at the same time. The products do coordinate beautifully together and give a beautiful glow.
Here are swatches of two bronzers–the warm amber Chanel Terra Ambre and more neutral Nars Laguna. In addition, I’ve swatched MAC Taupe Shape blush (limited edition and no longer available) so that you can compare the cool qualities of Burberry Fresh Glow Golden Radiance Powder:
Another (different lighting):
Here is Burberry Fresh Glow Golden Radiance Powder on Liz, which is most evident on the lower part of her cheeks. She is also parring this with Burberry Fresh Glow Nude Radiance Powder (above her brows, on upper cheek, and on her chin) and Guerlain Crazy Terracotta on the upper cheek as a blush:
Another wearing Burberry Fresh Glow Golden Radiance Powder on the lower cheek, and Burberry Fresh Glow Nude Radiance Powder on her upper check, chin and above her eyebrows and with different lighting:
You can see that Burberry Golden Radiance gives a soft cool quality to the skin, and the Nude Radiance adds a lovely fresh and lovely glow to her skin. She’s also wearing Guerlain Crazy Terracotta as a blush. In this picture, she’s wearing my new winter love, Burberry Lip Mist in Oxblood. She’s styled her fair with the T3 Bodywaver (also available at Sephora), Alterna CC Caviar Cream and Alterna Luminous Shine Mist.
Although the weather’s turned colder, I still can’t give up adding a touch of color and dimension to my beauty routine. Burberry Fresh Glow Golden Radiance Powder has become one of my go-to’s (paired with Nude Radiance). I absolutely love it. The product is unique, not fitting comfortably within the bronzer or highlighter category. Instead, Burberry is creating a niche of its own.
