Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Rose Gold01

Becca is well known for its liquid Shimmering Skin Perfectors–their legendary, sophisticated glow sets a beautiful standard for the perfect highlighter. Recently, Becca released a pressed powder version for those who prefer their glow from a pan. To complement my recent rose gold obsession, I tried the limited edition (and still momentarily available)  Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in Rose Gold ($38).

I’ve looked at various swatches of the Becca Rose Gold highlighter online, and I wasn’t sure how it would work on paler skin tones. MAC’s Riri Diamonds is a rose gold highlighter that is relatively sheer, however the pan of Becca’s Rose Gold Shimmering Skin Perfector seemed deeper in tone, akin to a neutral blush.

As I suspected, Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in Rose Gold applies as a soft peach-gold blush on my light skin tone. I have been using it with a touch of bronzer-as-blush to provide a soft touch of warmth, then use Becca’s Rose Gold on the upper cheeks, chin, and around the temples.

Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in Rose Gold is absolutely gorgeous. It’s a bit hard to capture on camera, but it really modulates with the light. It shows as a soft glowing color, then (gasp!) this lovely sheen appears just when the light hits it right. It’s so pretty.

Here are some comparisons.  First on the left, Laura Mercier Matter Radiance Baked Powder in Highlight #1 (golden nude) is a pressed powder with a much softer color.  The Laura Mercier lacks Becca’s Rose Gold stronger peachy cast. MAC Superb Extra Dimension Skinfinish is more metallic with a stronger highlight effect. MAC Diamonds (part of the Riri collection) is a cream finish, with a high shine but very little color.

Here is the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in Rose Gold on Liz’s upper cheeks. She is wearing this with Guerlain Crazy Terracotta bronzer underneath. The reflective quality is a little hard to capture on camera but we did our best. Ingredient list (click to enlarge):

Overall, I like Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in Rose Gold. It gives a very sophisticated glow, a pretty soft peach-bronzy wash of color, and a very pretty overall look.
