From a NARS Press Release:
NARS Cosmetics introduces Kohliner – Audacious Mascara’s partner in line.
Coming soon from Nars, releasing first at Sephora during July: The NARSissist Matte Shimmer Eyeshadow Palette ($65).
The Fall 2015 Color Collection, created by NARS Founder and Creative Director François Nars, stars a lush and lavish mix of shades for eyes, lips, and cheeks. The look begins with natural sculpting of the face. Eyes dramatize in smoky shimmering brown and golden ombré. Lips captivate in tones of iconic red.
NARS has recently introduced eight lashes. I know that it’s “all about brows,” “the perfect red” or “year of the contour.” I get it, true, these are all huge. But honestly, does anything look as lush and glamorous as fabulous lashes? Whenever see lashes that are amped up, I feel like “she’s the girl with the most cake. She wins.” These are currently available at Nars online and at his boutiques ($20 each).
According to Nars, these lashes: “named for the order in which the models walk the runway in a fashion show lineup, these faux lashes are perfect for enhancing your everyday look or adding drama and intensity for bold appeal. From full and thick to whimsical and feminine, these lashes are an artistry essential, make eyes pop while adding length and volume. Versatile, reusable, and made with natural fibers.” As you will see from the close-ups that follow, these lashes are set on an invisible strip.
The Nars Christopher Kane collection is based on the concept of neon neutrals. There are a few surprising, never-seen-before colors and textures in this collection that you shouldn’t miss. A little background on fashion designer Christopher Kane:
The designer has always been acknowledged as both a precocious and truly gifted talent. Christopher Kane has quickly matured and grown to become one of the powerhouse labels of British fashion with one of the biggest international profiles. The catwalk shows, held during London Fashion Week, are a widely acknowledged highlight of the international fashion calendar. Developing his highly creative and playful signatures of constant innovation, rebellious femininity and extraordinary skill, his clothes continue to surprise and seduce with their ineffable sense of chic.
Two truly unique, over-the-moon items that I’ve never seen before from any line Nars Multiples in Violet Atom and Quantum ($39 each). Please be very, very careful about missing these. We aren’t likely to see something this special in a high-end line very often–these are well-executed special edition items. Quantum is exclusive to Nars online (and Nars boutiques), which has the full collection. Violet Atom is currently available at Nordstrom, Barneys, Neiman Marcus, Bloomingdales, and Saks Fifth Avenue.
I’ve been reaching for Quantum as a summer blush nearly every day. It’s gorgeous applied, although it may look a little intimidating in the tube. Before I say more, here are too-heavy swatches of each:
Here’s the surprise– Quantum sheers out to the prettiest duo-chrome pink/violet that looks stunning on both warm and cool skin. It’s amazing over a bronzer–it gives that perfect summer pink that looks heaven-sent. There’s a glow and luminosity to it that I’ve never been able to obtain from any other cool pink blush:
Violet Atom is a must for anyone that loves unusual highlighters and/or has cool skin. There’s a violet undertone to it that’s very unusual. I would think it’s going to look amazing on deeper skin tones. Here’s a video featuring Violet Atom so you can see it (applied heavily) on lighter skin:
Of the two, Quantum is the one not to miss. If you can, both are well worth a look. Quantum is exclusive to Nars online (and Nars boutiques), which has the full collection. Violet Atom is currently available at Nordstrom, Barneys, Neiman Marcus, Bloomingdales, and Saks Fifth Avenue.

Here they are! As you know, genius Francois Nars has a line of wonderful, complex, pressed powder blushes. Those are the gold standard for so many shades. Still, never shy of looking at the world through fresh eyes, the Nars Dual Intensive Blushes ($45 each) use a unique formula for those of us that love to shake things up a bit. Who doesn’t? These are currently available from Nars online, Barneys New York, Bloomingdales, Neiman Marcus, Sephora, and Nordstrom.
These blush duos can be worn wet or dry. Generally, dry application gives the highest pigment level. A dampened brush gives a pretty watercolor effect that melts into the skin with a really pretty stain. Like the Dual Intensity eyeshadows, these duo-blushes have a magical texture and formula that gives a beautiful glow and dimension.
NARS Reckless Powder Blush ($30) is a shimmery soft warm very light pink. This is an unusual shade, and I think in many lines this might be considered a soft highlighter. Of course, this fairy-sparkle shade fits perfectly with the modern nude theme of Nars Spring 2015. NARS Reckless Blush is available at Nordstrom, Nars online, Sephora, Barneys New York, Bloomingdales, and Neiman Marcus.
On my skintone, Reckless actually seems to neutralize color because of the light tones, while adding a touch of shimmer and sparkle. It’s very Ice Queen. Here it is, swatched next to Nars Valhalla Eyeshadow single and Porto Venere Eye Paint.
To get a sense of the color, I’ve swatched this next to MAC Bao Bao Wan Summer Opal, Laura Mercier’s Baked Powder Highlighter and Bobbi Brown’s Nude Shimmerbrick. As you can see, Reckless is a very light, cool nude with micro sparkle.
One more, slightly different order (but same comparisons).
NARS Reckless blush seems like is a powder version of a Cococabana, or other cool highlighter. A niche cool nude shade, it evokes an edgy vibe. It’s going to glow perfectly and naturally on some skin tones.

NARS lip glosses in Guyane and Vent Sale ($26 each) are unusual shades in the makeup world. Although they look like quiet neutrals in the tube, both have a high pearl quality. The soft seashell beige-pink Guyana, and the white high-shine Vent Sale, are high-concept. Most will find that these are perfect for a “highlight” sheen on the center of the lip, perhaps over a matte or deep satin red. These are available at Nars online, Nordstrom, Barneys New York, and Neiman Marcus.
NARS Guyana is a warm beige with a pearly sheen. This shade has so much shine and pearl that I find it difficult to wear alone. It’s amazing over a neutral or peach lipstick, like Chanel Patchouli or any peach/ coral.
NARS Vent Sale is a white silver highlight shade.
This applies a white metallic white pearl. If applied all over the lip, you will have a very high-fashion ’60’s runway look. I prefer to use this as NARS describes in its literature, a highlight in the center bottle lip while wearing lipstick.
These colors are the magic touch that we leave most wondering “how does she get that look?” The art is in the details, as all makeup lovers know. and NARS Guyana and Vent Sale glosses are those extra touches that make the look. Swatches:
Here’s a swatch comparing the unusual NARS Vent Sale, compared to the only other “highlight” gloss that I have in my drawer–MAC Mirror from the Pedro Loucenco collection released last summer. As you can see, Mirror is more of a true silver, while NARS Vent Sale is a pearly silver white.
I did a quick lip with Nars Vent Sale over Chanel Manic on the bottom lip so you can see how the highlight looks when applied over a darker shade.
Bottom line, both NARS Guyana and Vent Sale are going to add a touch of artistry to your makeup stash. These are high fashion shades, and should be used carefully to enhance your look. Honestly, they are completely unique in my opinion–I don’t know of any other shade that has such as stunning dimension.

Part of NARS Spring 2015 collection is the NARS St-Paul-De-Vence Eyeshadow Duo ($35), a “neutrals with a twist” that sort of evokes this year’s marsala theme but leans toward the warmer side of it. To me, some colors in Nars’ line are instant classics–they are unusual enough because the shades are complex–but they are universal enough to fit within the makeup that one already owns. Paired with a soft peach or coppery blush, and I’m good to go. NARS St-Paul-De-Vence is currently available at Nordstrom, Nars online and Nars boutiques, Sephora, Barneys New York, and Neiman Marcus.
I’ve been reaching for this so often–it’s not the same old, same old brown and beige “work friendly” combination but it raises the fashion factor just enough. Still, it’s not a super vibrant color. St-Paul-De-Vence is daytime friendly. In addition to spring, this one is one of those great August-September transition to Fall colors that helpful to have.
The shade on the left is described by NARS as a shimmering nectarine. This is redder than many soft shimmers that tend to be either beige or pink. On the right is a wonderfully formulated matte chestnut, that is a red-brown without being too much of either. These are applied softly here in these swatches, of course they can be layered for more intensity. Sometimes I hold off on interesting basics like these, it took me months to by Nars All About Eve. The funny thing is, once you have them you use them because these are beautiful, everyday shades that enhance the eye color, are effortless to wear, and are just quite pretty. I’ve been wearing the shimmer shade as a lid wash, with the deeper right shade in the outer corner and crease. I top these with a black liquid eyeliner. Reddish browns, in the range of MAC Dubonnet, look fabulous with these tones. Of course, the sheer shimmer Liguria lipstick (also part of NARS Spring ’15) works beautifully as well–the colors can of course be worn beautifully together.
As far as NARS St-Paul-De-Vence? This is one of the good ones, gorgeous. Highly recommended. NARS St-Paul-De-Vence is currently available at Nordstrom,Nars online and Nars boutiques, Sephora,Barneys New York, and Neiman Marcus.
