Cleansers03

The Själ Rose Aura Cleansing Set ($140) includes four products-  set contains balans deep pore cleanser, mineral källa energy tonic, cela intuitif light cellular renewal crème and the natural konjac sponge. I’ve been playing with two of the products in the set–the balans deep pore cleanser (the 1.o oz. size pictured above) and the natural konjac sponge.

Cleansers05

This combination is quite possibly the gentlest cleanser duo that I’ve ever tried. According to the Själ website, this cleanser has numerous rich ingredients, including gold, silver and germanium for anti-microbial, cellular re-generation and detoxifying properties with pearl extract for brightening, and the following benefits:

- promotes cellular detoxification, oxygenation and brightening (germanium and pearl extract)

- helps regulate sebum and minimizes pores (African whitewood extract)

- protects against water loss (fig leaf extract)

- softens and soothes skin (rice bran extract, vitamin E)

This cleanser is gently scented and extremely pleasant to use. It’s has a light gel texture and washes away very cleanly, leaving skin feeling hydrated. It has a light floral scent, with a gentle rose tone. Ingredient list (click to enlarge):

This liquid balans deep pore cleanser is available in a larger 5.0 ounce size alone from Barneys (with free ship).

The konjac sponge arrived slightly damp and ready to use, and it dried fairly well over the course of a day. This 100% natural sponge (once dampened) is super soft and gentle, and it is meant to soften and exfoliate the skin.  The sponge should never be used dry, indeed it feels like the outer shell of a macaron when dry and we wouldn’t use one of those on our faces, would we?

Cleansers06

The combination was very gentle and nice to use. There is no stripping of the skin whatsoever, and the texture and experience is pure luxury.

Cleansers07

The gentleness must be kept in mind when you are using the product.  For example, when I use my Chanel SPF 50 sunscreen and long-wearing foundations (Chanel Perfection Lumiere, Shiseido Sun Protection, or the Tom Ford stick foundation), this was not quite strong enough to take the day off. For that reason, an oil cleanser would have to be used to take those products off before using this system.

Overall, this is s luxury  cleansing system that is remarkably gentle and pleasant to use. If you’d love some end-of-the-day pampering, this is worth a good look.

Själ Skincare has just introduced the Själ Saphire Concentrate Anti Aging Face Oil ($175). I was sent these three mini-samples for review.

Like the other Själ products that I’ve tried, this is an extraordinarily refined and effective product. Literally, a tiny drop provides clear, pleasant and surprisingly immediate benefits. IThe first time that I tried this product, I had a dry patch from a “skincare experience gone wrong” on my cheek. During the course of a few minutes after I first applied Själ’s Saphire Concentrate, I literally watched the area become smooth and healed. Before my eyes. Overall, it provides a glowing, well-oxegynated look to my skin.

The company’s description:

A powerful, modern treatment oil made with an artisanal blend of rare essential oils and supra-3, a proprietary anti-aging bioactive complex designed to visibly diminish the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, increase elasticity, plump and revitalize skin. This ‘liquid silk’ weightless oil is infused with Himalayan blue sapphires and aquamarine known to facilitate clarity, calming and balance.

I keep hoping to find something “just as good” for a lower price whenever I try Själ products. No dice–I’m sorry. I’ve tried.  As with some luxury products, this oil will last for a very long time given its high concentration and effectiveness.  It’s a gorgeous product that works.

No breakouts or adverse effects. Wonderful as a moisturizer to take along on a flight–this substance is remarkably effective at preserving my skin in the unforgiving over-10,000 feet air.  As someone who has tried her share of face oils, trust me there is something really fantastic about this one.

Bottom line: Love to the last drop.

This is available at Själ’s online site, at Barney’s New York, as other online skin retailers. This was sent by PR to Cafe Makeup without charge for consideration for review. My samples did not come with an ingredient list.

I’ve recently had the opportunity to sample some items from the Själ skincare line– a very modern, scientifically advanced series of skincare items that seeks to blend European and Eastern skincare philosphy. According to the website, the line is designed as a fusion of “luxury, cosmeceuticals and spirituality.” This includes the use of precious minerals and gemstones, including gold, silver, diamond, ruby and amethyst. The line was founded in 2001 by mother-daughter team Karen and Kristin Petrovich, and was inspired by Chinese, Tibetan, Ayurvedic, Homeopathic and Vibrational medicinal ideologies, combined these with European and Japanese bio-technology. The products contain no fillers.

I was sent one ounce sample sizes of two items–the Balans Deep Pore Cleanser and Mineral Källa Energy Tonic.

The Själ Balans Deep Pore Cleanser (approximately $70/6.0 ozs. via sjalskincare.com) uses traces of gold and silver as anti-macrobials. This cleanser is intended to boost immunity, detoxify the skin, and is intended to balance the skin while keeping it hydrated, soothed, and brightened. It is also intended to minimize and clarify pores, keep skin balanced, hydrated, and soothed while detoxifying and brightening. The product includes African Whitewood extract to regulate sebum and fig leaf extract to keep skin hydrated, soft and smooth.

Once I examined the materials that described the product, the luxury label for these items became clear. I found my trial size extremely pleasant to use–it’s a clear gel with a very light, natural scent that evokes a bit of citrus. The gel takes off every trace of sunscreen (Chanel UV Essetiel SPF 50), foundation (Dior Diorsnow BB Creme or Nars Tinted Moisturizer) and my Giorgio Armani Eyes to Kill mascara very quickly and with very little effort. Afterwards, my face felt refreshed and clean, without feeling even a bit dry or stripped. I looked back into the mirror into absolutely clean, glowing skin. Here’s the ingredient list (click to enlarge):

The Själ Mineral Källa Energy Tonic (approximately $70/6.0 oz. via sjalskincare.com) is a spray that can be used to hydrate and revitalize the skin, typically as one does one’s skin routine in the morning and throughout the day. It is intended to protect the skin against pollution, counter-act stress, and is “is infused with gemstones such as rhondonite and rose quartz to strengthen immunity, restore equilibrium and reduce stress.”

My sample size did not have a mist, so I applied it with a cotton pad as part of my morning and evening routine. The scent is very faint (I’m detecting a slight floral leaning toward rose, but it’s nearly imperceptible unless I directly sniff the bottle).  I found this to be a pleasant, hydrating toner that left my skin very soft and moisturized.

Here is an ingredient list for the Mineral Källa Energy Tonic (click to enlarge):

Overall, I enjoyed the two Själ items that I tried–I played with some of the single-use packets that I received. These were likewise very fresh, light, and get-down-to-business effective.

Some women find that the gold-edged packaging that contains rich, perfumed creams just seem to belong to another era. Själ Skincare offers an updated, scientifically based option that might be worth exploring. In addition to Zuneta, the line is available at sjalskincare.com, Barneys and Zuneta.com.
